Bus torched after driver tries to kill biker
And you thought riding on your city streets was bad…
KATHMANDU – “Enraged locals and passengers Tuesday morning torched a public vehicle at Bijulibazaar, accusing the bus driver of attempting to run over a biker by reversing his vehicle.
The incident occurred when a public bus heading toward old bus park from Bhaktapur rammed into a motorcycle heading in the same direction, injuring the bike rider. Eyewitnesses claimed that soon after hitting the two-wheeler, the driver attempted to run over him by reversing the vehicle.
The fire set by irate locals has completely damaged the vehicle. After the incident, traffic police took the bus under control. Traffic police said such kinds of incidents occur due to weak law enforcement.
Traffic police said the driver fled the scene after the accident turned nasty. The injured person, Surendra Thapa, 29, a resident of Baneshwor area, is undergoing treatment at a clinic and is said to be out of danger”.
